Tulum’s Mayan ruins

Reporting from the Mayan ruins on 12/12/12!
Yes, we thought it would be funny and dramatic to head here on the bla bla bla day that everyone seemed to be so thrilled about! Sorry we won’t be able to be here on the last day on the world but I have to head back to Italy and my mama is going to LA…!
Apart from the exaggerated date, the Mayan ruins of Tulum blew Milly and I away!
What we were expecting was a smaller settlement similar to the Coba one (being in the jungle each part was 1 km apart, but from one ruin to the next there was just jungle). And instead upon entering the massive garden we were projected into a whole different era belonging to the Mayans. The place is gorgeous, with wide green gardens with scattered palm trees, the ruins were kept in great shape, and I always marvel to how they managed to last for so long.
While walking there we got a strong feeling of calmness (the fact that there were hardly any tourists did help). The remains that give on to the sea are fantastic, the grey stone that forms them against the super turquoise waters give an amazing contrast!
MUST VISIT ASAP!
